Polynucleotides: the new go-to for natural skin rejuvenation

Writer: Lauren Turner Lauren Turner

When it comes to improving facial skin quality, the options are vast – injectables, chemical peels, lasers and many many more! Recently, many people have started moving away from traditional fillers, particularly to avoid an unnatural or overly “done” look. Polynucleotides are an exciting alternative, focusing on natural skin regeneration to create a refreshed, glowing appearance.

What are polynucleotides anyway?

Polynucleotides sound a bit like something from a sci-fi movie, but they’re actually molecules derived from salmon DNA that work to repair and regenerate your skin. Polynucleotides are part of a new concept in regenerative medicine, working to promote cell turnover, improve skin elasticity and hydration, and repair sun-damaged skin. They even help with photoaging and acne scarring, leaving you with a nourished, healthy and revitalised complexion. Unlike dermal fillers, they don’t add volume – they just help your skin look like it got a great night’s sleep (even if you didn’t!).

Why are they perfect for under-eyes?

Although polynucleotides can be used anywhere on the face, they are ideally suited to the under-eye area, which is a notoriously tricky area to treat with filler. As the skin under the eyes is so thin, fillers here can sometimes cause puffiness as they tend to attract water over time. Polynucleotides, on the other hand, improve dark circles, enhance skin quality and smooth fine lines without adding unnecessary volume. Think of them as an injectable version of a really good concealer – only better!

How many treatments are needed?

For the best results, most people need 2–3 treatments, spaced about four weeks apart. Once completed, results can last up to a year, making it a long-lasting investment in your skin.

Why polynucleotides are worth it

If you’re after a treatment that makes your skin look refreshed and radiant without any added volume, polynucleotides are your go-to. Perfect for tear troughs and beyond, they’re the ideal way to rejuvenate and restore your skin while keeping things natural and subtle.
